Engineered Stone
Engineered stone, which is often referred to as 'Quartz', is a composite material comprised of crushed natural quartz, pigments and polymer binders (resin) used to emulate natural stone. It is used primarily for countertops, work surfaces and bathroom vanities. Engineered stone is typically fabricated in the same way as natural stone using diamond blades and tools and the material is available in either 2cm or 3cm thickness. Engineered stone is typically stronger in flexibility and less porous than most marble and granite. Engineered stone is comparable in durability and cleanability to sealed granite countertops.
Countertops by Superior always recommends that customers choose their new countertops based on color and design. Quartz countertops offer comparable cleanability and durability as natural stone counters, so color and design should always be the main reason for choosing quartz or natural stone.
